translated into English by the great poet and published by the Indian Society,
London in 1912.
Today, I am going to share one of
the famous, motivational and inspiration poem, ‘Where the Minds is without Fear’
by Tagore which is part of ‘Gitanjali- A collection of short poems and songs.
When he wrote this poem India was under the British Rule and people were eagerly waiting to get their freedom from the British Rule. The poem is written in the form of a prayer to the God, the Almighty for a true freedom for his country. And thus Tagore reveals his own concept of freedom throughout the poem, Where the Mind is Without Fear.
Where the mind is without fear
and the head is held high
Where knowledge is free
Where the world has not been
broken up into fragments
By narrow domestic walls
Where words come out from the
depth of truth
Where tireless striving stretches
its arms towards perfection
Where the clear stream of reason
has not lost its way
Into the dreary desert sand of
dead habit
Where the mind is led forward by
thee
Into ever-widening thought and
action
Into that heaven of freedom, my
Father, let my country awake.
